Firesides

One of the fundamental elements that lies at the core of the Bahá’í Faith is the belief that each individual must independently investigate the truth for him or her self. Bahá’ís believe that truth exists, and that therefore humans not only have the ability to recognize it, but the obligation to seek it out for themselves rather than see it through the eyes of others.

This concept of the individual search for truth is central to the informal informational meetings known as "Firesides".  Typically, a Bahá’í (there is no clergy or priesthood in the Bahá’í Faith) will give a brief introduction or offer a short talk on one of the central tenants of the Faith (e.g. race unity, equality of women and men, the essential harmony of science and religion, etc).  Following this is a question and answer period. There is no obligation of any sort placed on the guests. Those who wish to investigate further are encouraged to read one or more of the many Bahá’í publications, and to return with more questions!

Firesides are currently hosted on the fourth Friday of every month at the Bahá’í Center, at 3808 Bardstown Road, Louisville KY 40218, as well as in private homes throughout greater Louisville and Kentuckiana.  To locate a Fireside near you, please check the calendar, call 502-267-0099,  or click on "Contact" on the top menu.

Seekers of Faith

To sincere and earnest seekers of faith, Bahá'u'lláh has made the following promise, ". . . when the lamp of search, of earnest striving, of longing desire, of passionate devotion, of fervid love, of rapture and ecstasy, is kindled within the seekers heart . . . Then will the manifold favors and outpouring grace of the holy and everlasting Spirit confer such new life upon the seeker tha he will find himself endowed with a new eye, a new ear, a new heart, and a new mind.  He will contemplate the manifest signs of the universe, and will penetrate the hidden mysteries of the soul."
