About Us

Welcome to the website of the greater Louisville Baha'i community  -  serving Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Bulitt counties in Kentucky, and Clark, Floyd, and Harrison counties in Indiana.  There are currently about 200 Baha’is in the Louisville area.

The Baha'i Faith has been present in Kentucky, and specifically the Louisville area, since the 1920s. Local spiritual assemblies (the local administrative bodies) are formed in civil jurisdictions where nine or more adult Baha’is reside. The assembly in the city of Louisville first formed in 1944. In 1971, an assembly formed in the unincorporated area outside Louisville (Jefferson County). With the merger of city and county governments in 2003, the assembly areas merged to form one community with one administrative body, known as the Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Louisville. There is no clergy in the Baha’i Faith.
